Things I enjoy outside of work.
Film
- Quentin Tarantino — Everything he's made. Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, Kill Bill, Django Unchained, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The dialogue, the tension, the style. Nobody else makes films like this.
- The Social Network (2010) — The best startup movie ever made. Captures the energy of building something from nothing.
- Steve Jobs (2015) — Sorkin's three-act structure is brilliant. The tension between vision and the people around you.
- Moneyball (2011) — Using data to see what everyone else misses. Applies far beyond baseball.
- The Big Short (2015) — A reminder that the consensus can be spectacularly wrong.
TV
- Silicon Valley — Satire that's uncomfortably close to reality.
- Succession — Power, family, and the weight of legacy.
- The Playlist — The Spotify origin story, told from multiple perspectives.
Podcasts
- Acquired — Deep dives into how great companies were built.
- Lex Fridman Podcast — Long-form conversations with scientists, founders, and thinkers.
- 20VC — Harry Stebbings interviews the best in venture and startups.
